Bears’ Vic Fangio To Remain As Defensive Coordinator

The Chicago Bears won’t be losing a key member of their coaching staff as Vic Fangio agreed to return as the Bears’ defensive coordinator, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Fangio’s status with the team was in question when Matt Nagy became the head coach replacing the fired John Fox.

The Green Bay Packers were interested in Fangio, but opted to hire Mike Pettine instead. There was speculation that cost came into play during the decision making process as Fangio made upwards of $2M last year.

Chicago was 14th in defensive DVOA last season.

The Denver Broncos will hire former Chicago Bears defensive back ED Donatell to be there defensive coordinator. The Move reunites Donatell with Vic Fangio, the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Donatell coach under Fangio led defense s from 2011 through 2018 as defensive back coach. So the two are definitely know each other well. Donatell has been a defensive coordinator in the league before running, the Packers defense from 2000-2003 and in the Atlanta Falcons from 2004-2006.

Broncos Name Vic Fangio Next Head Coach

The Denver Broncos have reached a decision regarding their next head coach, naming Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio the the post, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Dan Graziano.

Fangio, who will ink a four-year contract with a team option for the fifth year, takes over for Vance Joseph, who was fired following the conclusion of the regular season.

Fangio, 60, was one of five candidates to interview for the Broncos’ head-coaching job and was the final candidate to be interviewed by the team.

Fangio comes with an impressive reputation and although he has never been a head coach, he has 33 years of experience as an assistant, serving the past 4 seasons as the defensive coordinator in Chicago.

Dolphins Cancel Vic Fangio Interview

The Miami Dolphins have called off an interview with Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

Fangio is still drawing interest from the Denver Broncos, but the Dolphins have apparently honed in on other head coaching options.
