Browns Hire Scot McCloughan As Personal Consultant

Published

on

The Cleveland Browns have hired former Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan to serve as a personnel consultant to assist the team in this year’s draft, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

McCloughan, who is recognized as one of the league’s top talent evaluators, participated in meetings with the Browns’ full scouting department on Saturday.

Cleveland hasn’t had the most glowing draft record, despite the number of first round and top 10 picks they have had over the past several seasons.

With the Browns owning the the 1st and 4th pick, a total of 12 picks in the upcoming draft, it is vital that the team gets this draft right, especially as they look for a franchise quarterback.

McCloughan has been open about his opinion of Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, who he sees as a “favorite” in the draft.

McCloughan has a history with new Browns’ general manager John Dorsey, who served with one another under Green Bay Packers general manager Ron Wolf.
