Lions’ Ezekiel Ansah Signs Franchise Tender

Detroit Lions defensive end Ezekiel Ansah has officially signed his franchise tender and will now play under a one-year deal worth more than $17M.

The Lions have until July 16th to agree on a multi-year contract extension with Ansah, according to the terms of the franchise tag.

Ansah notched 44 tackles, 12 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery for Detroit last season.

The Detroit Lions have released veteran running back C.J. Anderson, who was one of their free agent hauls this past offseason.

Anderson signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Lions during free agency, rushed for 43 yards over his only 2 games with the team.

In a corresponding move, the Lions have claimed running back Paul Perkins off of waivers from the New York Giants.

The Detroit Lions have re-signed veteran tight end Logan Thomas.

In a corresponding move, the Lions placed defensive end Austin Bryant on the injured reserve.

Thomas, 28, was cut on Saturday as the Lions trimmed their roster down to 53 players, but is now back with the club.

Lions’ Darius Slay Reporting to Camp

The Detroit Lions won’t have to worry about the status of cornerback Darius Slay for the start of training camp.

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, Slay will report to camp as he continues to push for a new contract with the team.

Slay is coming off his second consecutive Pro Bowl season and has spent his entire career with the Lions.
