Flowers will move from left tackle to right tackle after the Giants landed Nate Solder in free agency.
The Giants shopped Flowers during the draft but teams were not willing to pay the price that the Giants were asking in return, which likely was a mid-round draft pick.
Furthermore if New York were to release Flowers, they would incur more than $4.5M in dead money and see no cap savings as a result.
Giants Not Activating Jonathan Stewart
The New York Giants decided not to activate veteran running back Jonathan Stewart prior to the deadline to do so on Thursday.
Stewart, who landed on the IR due to a foot injury back in September, will now be unavailable for the rest of the season, per league rules regarding the injured reserve list.
While Stewart, 32, was brought in via a two-year deal, it is unlikely that the Giants bring him back in 2019.
Giants Placing Landon Collins on IR
The Giants are leaving the door open for Collins to return this season, but with the Giants struggling and Collins scheduled to hit free agency in March, it doesn’t seem to make much sense for Collins to rush his way back to the field in 2018.
Collins has collected 67 tackles, four passes defensed, and a forced fumble for the Giants this season.
Giants to Activate RJ McIntosh
The New York Giants have activated defensive end R.J. McIntosh from the non-football injury list and he will provide some much needed depth along the Giants defensive line, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
McIntosh first landed on the non-football injury list back in September when New York was hoping to be in contention for a NFC playoff spot, but with the team tanking and recently trading a number of players, McIntosh will likely get some playing time so he can show the team what he is capable of.
