Ereck Flowers Upset Over Nate Solder Signing

Published

The ongoing saga regarding New York Giants tackle Ereck Flowers continues to write another chapter as the tackle is now reportedly upset about the Giants’ offseason signing of free agent Nate Solder.

Flowers remains away from the team, currently training in South Florida on his own.

“He’s just unhappy that they picked up [Nate Solder],” Giants safety Landon Collins said of his teammate during an appearance on WFAN’s Boomer and Gio (h/t SNY.tv). “That’s it.”

“Definitely, I would say he needs to be here, as a teammate and as a captain because we need him here, need to get the line together so they can be on the same page,” Collins said. “… Ereck is my boy. At the same time, he has a lot to learn, and at the same time he has to work harder.

“He came in last year, he thought he did what he needed to do — he lost weight, he was in proper shape, thought he played good in the first couple of games and just kind of went downhill when the season went downhill.”

The New York Giants decided not to activate veteran running back Jonathan Stewart prior to the deadline to do so on Thursday.

Stewart, who landed on the IR due to a foot injury back in September, will now be unavailable for the rest of the season, per league rules regarding the injured reserve list.

While Stewart, 32, was brought in via a two-year deal, it is unlikely that the Giants bring him back in 2019.

The New York Giants are placing All-Pro safety Landon Collins on injured reserve as he  will undergo surgery on his injured shoulder next week, ending his season, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

The Giants are leaving the door open for Collins to return this season, but with the Giants struggling and Collins scheduled to hit free agency in March, it doesn’t seem to make much sense for Collins to rush his way back to the field in 2018.

Collins has collected 67 tackles, four passes defensed, and a forced fumble for the Giants this season.

Giants to Activate RJ McIntosh

Published

The New York Giants have activated defensive end R.J. McIntosh from the non-football injury list and he will provide some much needed depth along the Giants defensive line, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

McIntosh first landed on the non-football injury list back in September when New York was hoping to be in contention for a NFC playoff spot, but with the team tanking and recently trading a number of players, McIntosh will likely get some playing time so he can show the team what he is capable of.

McIntosh is a fifth-round draft pick out of Miami.
