Bears’ Matt Nagy Discusses Mitchell Trubisky’s Inconsistency

Published

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy is preaching patience when addressing the inconsistency of second year signal caller Mitchell Trubisky,

While Nagy has high expectations, he also acknowledges the importance of patience when bringing along a young quarterback.

“For our offense, this thing is not going to happen overnight,” Nagy said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“They understand that. We as coaches understand that. It’s going to take time. We’re building it. You have to temper that a little bit. You can’t expect to come out and it just take off right away. That is a part of this process. But as long as you stay patient with it and don’t get frustrated, you’ll be all right.”

Trubisky has been off to a rocky start, with inconsistent play at the forefront.

Bears’ Eddie Jackson Aiming for Big Year for Bears Defense

Eddie Jackson

Chicago Bears safety Eddie Jackson has some big goals for the super talented Bears defense as we head into the 2019 season.

“I’ll go right now for our defense to be number one, across the board” Jackson said, during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “Like, I told ’em earlier, shouts out to the ’85 Bears, but, we want to top everything they’ve done,” Jackson said.

With a new defensive coordinator in Chuck Pagano, the Bears are certainly talented enough, across the board, to be one of the NFL’s best units next season.

“As far as scheme, man, we’re a little more aggressive” Jackson continued.

“It’s about the same. It’s not a big difference. Coach Pagano is more vocal than Coach Vic [Fangio]. Right now, I could say he’s more “uppity”. Coach Vic is more mellow, laid back, and chill. But he’s smart. They’re both smart.

They can tell you anything inside-out about an offense. For us, right now, it’s just to buy in, to keep our heads down, and keep working, and to just have his back, because he’s showing us he has ours, on and off the field.”

The Chicago Bears won’t be lacking any confidence as they head into the 2019 season, and veteran safety Eddie Jackson believes the team is ready to make some serious noise next season.

“Everything — how short, and how far, we came,” Jackson said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

“From the losing record to the winning record. How short we came, with the first-round playoff game with the field goal. Right now we just want to build off everything and let that be the fuel to our fire. We plan on taking this whole thing.”

The Bears’ success will hinge on the continued development of quarterback Mitchell Trubisky more than anything else.
