Washington Redskins veteran running back Adrian Peterson has responded to criticism from Hall of Famers Cris Carter and Shannon Sharpe who both believe that Peterson, a future Hall of Famer, is going to suffer a decline.
“Watching some of the things they said about me, man, it really hurt me to the core,” Peterson said, according to USA Today.
“Not only are they black men, but these are people I looked up to. And these are people that made mistakes, especially Cris Carter. So some of the things that came out of his mouth, not only personally, but about me as a player – aw, he’s washed up and this, that and the other, and he should just retire – how dare you.”
“Did you see me in a Dolphins uniform?” Carter said. “I had no business playing that season. I wouldn’t have admitted it, either. These guys get so sensitive about everything. Adrian had better get over himself. We were all great. But at the end, we all smelled like a baby’s diaper.”
Lions Release Glover Quin
The Detroit Lions have released veteran safety Glover Quin, according to an official team announcement.
In related moves, the Lions cut wide receiver Bruce Ellington and linebacker Nicholas Grigsby from the roster.
“We thank Glover for his countless contributions to the Detroit Lions during his six seasons with our team,” Lions general manager Bob Quinn said, via an official team statement.
“Since joining the organization in 2013, Glover exemplified everything it means to be a true professional in this league — as both a competitor on the field and a leading voice in the community. Coach [Matt] Patricia and I have the utmost respect for him as a man and player, and we wish him nothing but the very best in the future.”
Quin, 33, started all 16 games last season for Detroit racking up 74 total tackles and 1 sack for the Lions.
Falcons Not Tending Brian Poole
Poole has played as the primary nickel back for the past three seasons in Atlanta and is coming off a career year in 2018 in which he set a number of career highs in tackles, sacks, and interceptions.
According to ESPN’s Vaughn McClure, the door is still open for Poole to return to the Falcons but he would have to agree to a lesser deal than the RFA tender.
