Raiders’ Jon Gruden Says He is Happy Derek Carr is his Quarterback

Amid the firesale that the Oakland Raiders opened up earlier this season there had been rumors that the team may be looking to move on from quarterback Derek Carr, who hasn’t performed at the same level since a dominant season a few years ago.

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden appears to be happy to have Carr on the roster, which could quell any rumors that Oakland is looking to deal the veteran signal caller this offseason.

“That’s the first time you’ve seen it, it ain’t the first time it’s happened,” Gruden said, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. “We’re both competitors. We’re competing hard there. We had a man-to-man situation, he went for the big play, and we had a mild disagreement. But you know what? That’s part of this business. We’re going to have times when we clash a little bit. We’re also very supportive of one another. I’m very proud of him. He’s been through a lot this year. I’m glad he’s our quarterback.”
