Redskins Sign Josh Johnson

The Washington Redskins now have two healthy quarterbacks, as they have officially signed veteran Josh Johnson, according to ESPN’s John Keim.

Johnson auditioned for the Redskins on Tuesday, a competition that included several other signal callers, and was the first pick of the AAF‘s San Diego franchise last week, but AAF co-founder Bill Polian stated that Johnson had been officially released from his deal so that he could play for the Redskins.

Johnson will backup Mark Sanchez, who become the starter following the season ending injury to Colt McCoy.

Panthers Sign Bruce Irvin

The Carolina Panthers have signed veteran pass rusher Bruce Irvin to a one-year contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Irvin, 31, spent last season with the Oakland Raiders and the Atlanta Falcons, finishing with 6.5 sacks.

The Minnesota Vikings have re-signed veteran kicker Dan Bailey to a one-year, $1 million contract which can reach a max of $2 million via incentives, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Bailey also receives $250K signing bonus as part of the deal.

Texans Sign Darren Fells

The Houston Texans have signed veteran tight end Darren Fells to a one-year deal, according to FOX 26’s Mark Berman.

Fells, 32, was cut by the Cleveland Browns earlier this month after the team failed to find a trade.

Fells, who inked a three-year, $12 million deal with the Browns last year, managed only 11 receptions in his only season in Cleveland.
