Panthers’ Thomas Davis Uncertain About Future

Carolina Panthers veteran linebacker Thomas Davis is uncertain about his future with the only team he has ever played for, the Panthers.

Davis has spent his entire 14-year career in Carolina and with free agency approaching , he isn’t sure if he will be back with the Panthers in 2019.

“If it’s up to me, it’s not,” Davis said, according to Max Henson of the Panthers’ official website.

“It’s extremely tough having that uncertainty, not really knowing what’s going to happen in the future. But at the same time, it’s out of my control, so it’s not something I can really dwell on. It’s all about going out and playing hard and competing for my teammates.”

Davis, who has contemplated retirement before, expressed his loyalty to the Panthers franchise.

“Man, I only want to wear these colors. I’ve expressed that over and over,” Davis said. “But at the same time, you know I don’t want to be put into a situation where I’m forced to walk away too early. We’ll see what happens.”

Luke Kuechly

Carolina Panthers veteran linebacker Luke Kuechly isn’t too concerned about a defensive scheme change which will have him taking on a different role on the defense moving forward.

Carolina will employ more 3-4 looks into their defense for the 2019 season which will move Kuechly around from his traditional spots on the defense, but he isn’t too worried about it.

“It’s just football. There’s been certain looks that we’ve run in the past that mimic what we do now. So it’s not completely foreign,” Kuechly said, according to Joseph Person of The Athletic. “There’s just a couple new things here and there that are different, but pretty straightforward.”

Da’Norris Searcy

The Carolina Panthers have cut veteran safety Da’Norris Searcy, according to an official team announcement.

Additionally, Carolina also waived offensive tackle Isaiah Battle.

Searcy inked a two-year, $5.7 million deal with the Panthers back in 2018, but managed only 12 tackles and 1 interception during his lone season in Carolina.

Searcy missed 8 games of the 2018 season due to a pair of concussions he suffered back in September, which proved to effectively end his season.
