These two division rivals will match up for a third time this season. The Colts and Texans split there match ups in the regular season. Both teams got off to slow starts, Texans stared 0-3 and then won 11 out of 13 games. The Colts started 1-5 then won 9 out 10 games.
Usually the first Saturday playoff game is not a good match up, but this game will be different. I feel this game will come down to the wire.
Colts Offensive line against the Texans defensive line. Andrew Luck only has been sacked 18 times this year, behind a rebuilt offensive line led by rookie guard Quenton Nelson. The Texans defensive front has 43 sacks on the season, led by JJ Watt with his 16 sacks. This is a heavyweight matchup in the trenches it will be really physical. It is safe to say whoever when this battle will win the game.
I like the Texans in this game 21-17. I feel there defensive line will apply some pressure on Luck and Deshaun Watson will make plays down the field to DeAndre Hopkins.
Seahawks at Cowboys
The Seahawks surprised a lot people this year by making the playoffs and playing well. They come into this game with the number one ranked rushing attack on the season averaging 160 yards a game.
The Cowboys struggled early in the season but when they acquired Amari Cooper from the Oakland Raiders they really took off winning seven of there last 8 Games. Seattle beat the Cowboys back in week 3 at home.
Dak Prescott against the Seahawks defense. Prescott has not fared well against the Seahawks so far in his career, a lot of it due to the pressure that the Seahawks defense put on him. Seattle sacked Prescott five times in there earlier meeting this year. Dak will need to make plays with his arm and legs if the Cowboys want to win this game.
I am torn on this game but i will go with the Cowboys at home 21-20. Dallas is 7-1 at home this season, i think Zeke Elliot will be able to run the ball run and Dak Prescott will make plays with his legs and find Amari Cooper down the field. I expect Dallas defense which is fast and athletic to slow down Seattle’s running game and Russell Wilson.
The Ravens come in with top ranked defense in the NFL. The beat the high powered Chargers 22-10 back in week 16. There is no secret what the Ravens want to do on offense , they want to run the ball and control the clock with Lamar Jackson. It will be Key for the Chargers to slow down the running game of the Ravens. Phillip Rivers will need to play better than he did back in week 16, must not turn the ball over. Melvin Gordon will be back so that is a added bonus for them. It will be important for the Chargers to get an early lead to force Lamar Jackson to pass more.
Lamar Jackson against the Chargers Rush Defense. The front will need to play a discpline style game up front to slow down the Ravens rushing attack. Each player needs to stay in there gaps and stick to there assignments to slow down the attack.
This is another tough game to choose, but I like the Ravens at home. 19-17. There defense will be tough at home and i think Lamar Jackson will surprise the Chargers with some timely passes.
Eagles at Bears
The Defending super bowl champs the Philadelphia Eagles head to Chicago to take on the Bears. The Bears come in with the number three ranked defense and will be tough to beat at home. Khalil Mack leads Bears defense that will put pressure on Nick Foles. Foles is trying to regain that same magic he had last year when he led the Eagles to the Superbowl.
Foles against the Bears defense. The Eagles really like to get the ball down the field when Foles is at quarterback. Against this Bears defense it will be hard to do with the pressure they apply. I think the Eagles will try to get the ball out Foles hands quick using screens and quick passes. I still think the Eagles will take some shots down the field, the Bears will need to watch out for Zach Ertz.
I am going with the Bears in this game 24-10. I think the Bears defense will be to much for the Eagles to handle. Mack will cause havoc and the Bears defense will pick off a couple of Foles passes. Mitchell Tribisky will play a solid game and help lead the Bears to victory.
Jaguars’ Myles Jack Looking to Take on Bigger Role in 2019
Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack is looking to step up in 2019 by becoming more vocal on the field, and being more of a leaders on the defensive side of the ball.
In fact, Jack is hoping to become a second coach on the field.
“My goal this offseason was to become a second coach on the field,” Jack said, according to the Jaguars official website “My role in this defense is, No. 1, just get everybody lined up – lead by example and just kind of be someone everyone can lean on.”
“l get vocal if necessary. I have no problem speaking up. But I feel like my position going into Year 4 is I need to be the staple where if someone doesn’t know something I can be the encyclopedia.”
Jack certainly has been a leader with his performance and is coming off a solid 2018 season where he racked up 102 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 1 interception.
Ravens’ Earl Thomas Praises Lamar Jackson
Baltimore Ravens new superstar safety Earl Thomas has been impressed with the play of quarterback Lamar Jackson and believes he can reach star status in the near future.
“He’s a star in the making,” Thomas said, according to ESPN. “Box office.”
Jackson has been hard at work this offseason so that he can take a big step up in his 2nd year of action.
“I got better with my fundamentals, but I’m not perfect,” Jackson said. “So I’m going to keep working on it always. You’re never too great, so I have to keep going.”
“I’ve just been working hard, trying to perfect my craft,” Jackson said when asked to assess his three-day minicamp. “I’m trying to be the best that I can be to help my team win games, get in great situations. I feel I was very productive.”
Jaguars’ Nick Foles Believes Leonard Fournette is Dual Threat
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles is encouraged about what he has seen from running back Leonard Fournette in the passing game, believing that he can have a big season in 2019.
After a rough 2018 season, that included heavy criticism, Leonard could use some positive reinforcement, and Foles, his new quarterback, is giving him just that.
“That’s a threat,” Foles said, according to Jaguars.com. “If you ask any defender, when a running back can go out of the backfield and not only run the ball and protect, but he can receive, that’s really tough on a defense.
“I’ve been blessed to play with a lot of great running backs in my career that have made me look good because what they can do and there is nothing better than throwing the ball to a running back and letting him miss a guy. That’s what I love about backs. If you can catch, you can do so many different things. You can have a lot of fun out there.”
