Cardinals’ Mike McCoy Not Concerned Over Job Security
Despite their anemic offense, Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is not worried about his job security moving forward.
“We’re preparing like every other week,” McCoy said of their upcoming tilt against the Denver Broncos, via the team’s official website. “Our objective every week is to go out and win the next game we’re playing. That’s our focus.”
McCoy also stated that he doesn’t pay attention to the rumors, because he doesn’t watch a lot of television.
“No offense, but I don’t watch a lot of TV,” McCoy said. “I don’t read papers. I don’t get on the internet. I’m too busy doing other things, putting plans together. And when my family is in town, I spend every minute I can with them, or talking to them at night when they’re in San Diego, things like that. I’ve been in this long enough (to not get wrapped up in the fervor).”
Packers’ Jaire Alexander Learning from Early Experience
Green Bay Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander is taking it all in, the NFL experience, training camp, the NFL preseason, practices, and the knowledge that his more experienced teammates, such as Packers cornerback Davon House can bestow.
“I learned a bunch,” Alexander said, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. “Got to experience what a game is like, just trying to pay attention to the calls and the formations. See what the offense likes to run, and things like that. There were a lot of moving parts for me, so I was really concentrating on getting the play call and try to see myself in those positions.”
House notices how Alexander has traits of a veteran, even though her is a rookie.
“He says he can tell that the game isn’t as hard as everyone says it is — from watching it live,” House said. “Jaire isn’t a regular rookie. He’s kind of already in the flow of things.”
“Everyone likes him; very likable kid,” House said. “He’s eager, very coachable. We feed off of him. The energy he brings to the locker room, to the field when he makes plays, it’s always positive.”
Alexander’s conversion into the NFL game has been fluid, but House can understand why.
“It is hard, but it isn’t as hard as what we’re going against in practice,” House said. “You’re going against A-Rod, Davante [Adams], Jimmy Graham, and then you see other teams and it’s not even close to what we go through in practice, which makes it easier.”
House will be with Alexander, mentoring him, along with other veterans, as he prepares for the ups and downs of his first NFL season.
“That’s something we’ve always promoted,” Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said. “It makes you proud, but that’s something our guys do a really good job of. … Our younger players closing that gap with the veteran players is vital to the success of our football team and getting ready for [Week 1 against] Chicago, and our guys do a great job of that.”
Dez Bryant Waiting To Sign With A Contender
Bryant is waiting for a contender to come calling, but very little interest has been shown in the decline wide receiver, who was released by Dallas in the spring.
According to Ian Rapport of NFL Network, Bryant is willing to wait.
“He’s being choosy, wants to be with a team that of course can win right away, and the kind of team that can compete for championships and, from what it sounds like, this is a guy who is willing to wait. And we know that because he’s still waiting, so it is quiet.
Dez Bryant could be one of those guys who waits around and in the event of some injury to a top receiver maybe he gets a call and the kind of deal that he’s been waiting for.”
