Panthers Re-Sign Efe Obada

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed defensive end Efe Obada to a one-year deal, the team officially announced.

Obada, who was set to be an exclusive rights free agent this offseason, was the first player in league history to move from the league’s International Pathway Program to an active roster.

Obada was named NFC defensive player of the week back in September following his impressive performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, when he notched a sack and an interception.

Panthers Release Da’Norris Searcy

The Carolina Panthers have cut veteran safety Da’Norris Searcy, according to an official team announcement.

Additionally, Carolina also waived offensive tackle Isaiah Battle.

Searcy inked a two-year, $5.7 million deal with the Panthers back in 2018, but managed only 12 tackles and 1 interception during his lone season in Carolina.

Searcy missed 8 games of the 2018 season due to a pair of concussions he suffered back in September, which proved to effectively end his season.

Butler, who was selected during the 1st round of the 2016 NFL Draft, will not hit unrestricted free agency following the 2019 season.

Veteran running back Jonathan Stewart spent all but one year of his career with the Carolina Panthers, and today he inked a one-day contract so that he can retire a Panther.

Stewart played 10 years in Caroline before spending last season with the New York Giants where he only toted the ball 6 times for 17 yards in 3 games.

But today marked a happy ending for Stewart and the Panthers.
