Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger Talks Getting Back to ‘Normal’ Following Drama-Filled Offseason
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is opening up to the media about getting “back to normal” following what he calls a “crazy” past few years.
“It’s been a little crazy the last few years,” said Roethlisberger, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. “Maybe moreso than usual that we’re used to dealing with, so to kind of get back to quote, unquote normalcy is kind of nice.”
Despite the losses of big talent such as Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, the future Hall of Famer is confident about this year’s team.
“I really am excited about what we have,” Roethlisberger said. “We put a lot of work in, and that’s what it’s gonna take. It’s gonna take a team effort, and we’re all gonna give everything we have and see where it goes. We can’t predict the future, but we can predict we’re gonna give everything we have.”
Ravens’ Michael Pierce Explains Being Pulled from Minicamp
Now, Pierce is talking to the media to explain what exactly went down, and taking blame for it as well.
“Throughout the offseason, I tend to lift more than run,” Pierce said, during an appearance on WNSP-FM radio in Alabama (h/t ESPN’s Jamison Hensley). “Being a noseguard, I want to be strong or whatnot. I, honestly, just mismanaged my running a little bit.”
Pierce came into camp over 340 pounds, missed the Ravens’ offseason conditioning program and did not participate in voluntary workouts.
“Out of respect for Coach Harbaugh, he’s been nothing but a fair guy, he just wanted me to get in with the strength and conditioning staff and do more running before camp comes,” Pierce said.
Chargers’ Mike Williams Looking to Make Impact in 2019
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams is looking to the 2019 season as his time to breakout.
Williams cites being more comfortable, and confident, as he heads into the 3rd season in the offense, as reasons why he believes he will take on a bigger role, while being more productive, in the Chargers’ offense this upcoming season.
“Well, this is my third year going into the offense,” said Williams, according to Ricky Henne of the Chargers’ team website. “I’m a lot more confident coming out here and playing. My role is going to expand with Tyrell (Williams) leaving (to the Raiders). I’m looking forward to that. I’m ready to make some plays this upcoming season.”
The Chargers, and Williams, are hoping that he can step up in fill the void left by the departure of Williams.
“We lost a big weapon in Tyrell (so) a lot of people in the room have to step up,” Williams said. “I feel like me being the player that I am, I feel like I can do that… I feel like the role is going to change. I feel I’m going to get a lot more opportunities than I did last year. A lot more balls coming my way. I’m looking forward to it.”
