Dolphins, Xavien Howard Negotiating Long-Term Deal

The Miami Dolphins may be looking to rebuild, but they won’t do so at the cost of promising young players such as Pro Bowl cornerback Xavien Howard.

According to ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe, the Dolphins are talking with Howard’s representatives regarding a new, long-term deal, and is in the team’s long-term plans.

Howard has stated his desire to be the highest-paid cornerback in the league.

Dolphins general manager Chris Grier spoke of his confidence that Howard will be a Dolphin for years to come.

“Yes, I’m very confident that he’ll be there. Xavien has been in the building. He’s coming back, working out and getting in shape again after the Pro Bowl,” Grier said. “He’s doing good. We’ve been hanging out around him. He wants to be a Miami Dolphin and we want him to be a Dolphin.”

Bengals, Tyler Boyd Agree to Contract Extension

The Cincinnati Bengals and wide receiver Tyler Boyd have agreed to a four-year, $43 million contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Boyd’s new deal will keep him in Cincinnati through the 2023 season, and he now becomes one of the league’s top-paid slot receivers.

Boyd hauled in 76 receptions for 1,028 yards and 7 touchdowns for the Bengals last season.

Bills Hire Brian Gaine

The Buffalo Bills have hired former Houston Texans general manager Brian Gaine as their new Senior Personnel Adviser.

Gaine is familiar with the Bills organization, serving as the Vice President of Player Personnel under general manager Brandon Beane back in 2017.

Gaine left Buffalo to take the general manager job with the Texans, but was let go this offseason as part of the Texans’ failed pursuit of the New England Patriots’ Nick Caserio.

Raiders Sign Jonathan Cooper

The Oakland Raiders have signed veteran offensive lineman Jonathan cooper, according to NFL Network insider Jonathan Cooper.

Cooper, 29, is a former 1st round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals and has bounced around the league since flaming out in Arizona.

Cooper will likely provide solid depth to the Raiders’ offensive line, as well as some insurance in case Richie Incognito is suspended.
