Cardinals Decline Robert Nkemdiche’s Option

Published

The Arizona Cardinals have declined the fifth year option on defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche, according to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero.

Nkemdiche was drafted in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, but despite the massive hype surrounding his selection, he failed to live up to expectations.

Nkemdiche has struggled to stay healthy, but has flashed potential at times, and had a strong start to the 2018 season.

Dolphins Acquire Josh Rosen

Published

on

The Miami Dolphins have acquired quarterback Josh Rosen from the Arizona Cardinals.

Miami had traded down in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, with the New Orleans Saints, netting an additional 2020 2nd round pick in the process.

Following the trade down from #48 to #62, the Dolphins then sent the 62nd pick along with a 5th round pick to Arizona for Rosen, who was drafted in the 1st round during the 2018 NFL Draft.

Rosen, 22, became expendable after the Cardinals took quarterback Kyler Murray with the 1st overall pick, but had virtually no leverage in trading Rosen with how bad they botched the overall process.

Arizona had been demanding a 1st round pick from Rosen, but then shifted their focus to Miami’s 48th pick, a 2nd rounder.

The Dolphins balked at that trade, deeming it unbalanced in Arizona’s favor, and then executed a trade down that gave them more draft capital for the 2020 NFL Draft and a more reasonable pick to part with for Rosen.

Rosen had a rough rookie season, but flashed a talented arm at times despite being behind a horrendous offensive line, and he finished with 2,278 yards in 13 games, throwing 11 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions for the Cardinals.

The move is a win-win for the Dolphins, who can see what Rosen has this season and even if he is not the answer for them at quarterback, they can still take a quarterback next year and have Rosen under contract for 2 seasons at around $6 million.

Cardinals, Patrick Peterson Rift Brewing

Published

on

A rift seems to be brewing between the Arizona Cardinals and star cornerback Patrick Peterson, who has spent his entire career with the Cardinals.

According to the Arizona Republic’s Kent Somers, Peterson is not happy with the front office and something “pissed him off.”

According to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss, Peterson is upset with some of the decisions being made by the front office, and he is considered unlikely to report to minicamp at all.

Additionally, Peterson had demanded a trade prior to landing a new deal in 2018.

Lastly, a rumor circulated today, that was eventually shut down, that stated that Peterson was on the verge of being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, a rumor that former NFL receiver Antonio Bryant reported as news.

Maybe that rumor actually has some legs, all things considered.
