Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen, who has been the subject of trade rumors as the Cardinals approach the NFL Draft, is expected to report and participate in the start of the Cardinals’ offseason workout program on Monday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Other players who have been on the trade block have opted not to participate in team workouts in the past, but Rosen is taking the road of participation as his future with the team remains uncertain, at best.
The Cardinals are expected to draft quarterback Kyler Murray with the 1st overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and have been reportedly open to dealing Rosen, whom they drafted in the first round last year.
Cardinals, Patrick Peterson Rift Brewing
A rift seems to be brewing between the Arizona Cardinals and star cornerback Patrick Peterson, who has spent his entire career with the Cardinals.
According to the Arizona Republic’s Kent Somers, Peterson is not happy with the front office and something “pissed him off.”
According to ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss, Peterson is upset with some of the decisions being made by the front office, and he is considered unlikely to report to minicamp at all.
Additionally, Peterson had demanded a trade prior to landing a new deal in 2018.
Lastly, a rumor circulated today, that was eventually shut down, that stated that Peterson was on the verge of being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, a rumor that former NFL receiver Antonio Bryant reported as news.
Maybe that rumor actually has some legs, all things considered.
Dolphins Swing Trade for Cardinals’ Josh Rosen
According to NBC Sports’ Peter King, the Dolphins have done the most research on Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback Josh Rosen, and could end up offering a 3rd rounder on draft day to acquire Rosen, who is expected to be supplanted by the drafting of Kyler Murray, who is widely considered to be Arizona’s pick at #1.
The Dolphins and the Los Angeles Chargers have been the only teams to show interest in Rosen, so a 3rd rounder may be the best offer Arizona could receive.
The market for Rosen will drive down especially if the Washington Redskins and New York Giants draft a quarterback in the first round on Thursday.
Redskins “Favorites” for Josh Rosen
While Washington appears to be the front runner to acquire Rosen, as the Cardinals are expected to take quarterback Kyler Murray with the 1st overall pick, the team will not include it’s 2019 first round draft pick in any deal with the Redskins.
Finlay cites ESPN’s Todd McShay in his report, pointing to McShay reporting that he keeps hearing about the Redskins’ interest in Rosen within league circles.
