Today is the day the Russell Wilson has designated as a deadline to work out a new contract with the Seattle Seahawks, and the two sides have been hard at work to make a deal come to fruition, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
However, if the deadline passes and a deal is not done, Wilson may opt to take his talents elsewhere, and doesn’t plan to ink any long-term deal with the Seahawks, according to NBC Sports’ Peter King.
Wilson playing in a different uniform is hard to imagine for Seahawk fans, but he may be willing to leave if the Seahawks cannot adhere to his self-imposed deadline and hammer out a new deal.
The clock is certainly ticking.
Chris Johnson Retires as Titan
Former NFL running back Chris Johnson signed a one-day contract with the Tennessee Titans so that he can retire with the team he has spent the best years, and the majority of his NFL career with.
Johnson also believes that if he was a feature back, he could still surpass 1,000 yards rushing in a complete NFL season
“Shoot, that’s not even a question” Johnson said, according to Jim Wyatt of the Tennessee Titans’ official team website . You put me in an offense where I’m the starting back, there’s no way I wouldn’t get 1,000 yards,” said Johnson. “I could still do it, but it’s time to move onto the next situation.”
“Tennessee, that’s the first organization that gave me a chance to make my dreams come true,” Johnson said. “I have so many great memories in Tennessee and was able to do so many things with the Titans. It’s an organization I always want to be considered a part of.
“I grew up in Tennessee. I went from being a kid to a grown man here. I might have grown up as a kid in (my hometown of) Orlando, but I was still a kid in Nashville when I got there. The team and the city, they’ve always shown me so much love. I have great memories from my days with the Titans, so many on the field and in the city. I’ve always loved Tennessee, and I always will because I’ve always felt so much love.”
Buccaneers’ Bruce Arians Says It Will Take Massive Offer To Trade Down
The Bucs own the 5th overall pick in the draft, and head coach Bruce Arians intends to stay put unless a team is willing to give them a ridiculous offer for them to move down from their spot.
“There would have to be some hellacious picks,’’ Arians said, according to the Tampa Bay Times’ Rick Stroud.
“There’s five guys on the board I love. You’d have to throw the bank and open the vault for Jason (Licht) to move down. I’m not saying that we wouldn’t. Just looking at the guys that are there. There’s really six guys that are once in a generation type players. I feel great about this draft.”
Lions’ Kenny Golladay Excited to Work with Danny Amendola
Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay is looking forward to learning from veteran wide receiver Danny Amendola, who signed with the Lions during free agency this offseason.
“We’re still just figuring each other out, but I know one thing, his work ethic is crazy,” Golladay said, according to Justin Rogers of the Detroit News.
“It’s through the roof. He wants to push everyone. And when you have a guy like that, a vet guy, a savvy vet, you just really want to follow up under him. I’m not going to let him go out there and out-run me.”
After a breakout 2018 season, Golladay is looking to keep the productivity rolling along.
“The challenge is just picking up where I left off,” Golladay said. “Don’t become complacent, you know. Just need to keep my same focus and that’s what I’m going to do.”
