Saints, Cameron Jordan Agree to Contract Extension

The New Orleans Saints and defensive end Cameron Jordan have agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the club through 2020, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The new, three-year, $52.5 million extension is a reward for Jordan who has been a consistent force for the Saints since he was drafted.

Jordan, 29, collected 12 sacks last season for the Saints.

Saints Not Placing Drew Brees on IR

The New Orleans Saints are not planning to place franchise quarterback Drew Brees on injured reserve, meaning Brees could be eligible to return sooner than eight weeks.

Had the Saints opted to place Brees on the IR, he would have been shelved for at least 8 weeks.

The Saints could see Brees return following their bye week, and will now turn to Teddy Bridgewater as their signal caller until he does return.

Saints Adjust Contract of Kiko Alonso

The New Orleans Saints have adjusted the contract of newly acquired linebacker Kiko Alonso, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.

Alonso, who was acquired via trade from the Miami Dolphins over the weekend, will now earn a fully guaranteed $5 million with no offsets by next week.

New Orleans will pay $4 million while the Dolphins are on the hook for $1 million.
