While the Houston Texans’ defensive end Jadaveon Clowney remains away from the team, other players have stepped up, taking advantage of the opportunity to shine.

One of those players is Brennan Scarlett, who has impressed when starting at defensive end in practices.

“Brennan has been with us for a little bit and he has played multiple positions,” Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel said, according to the Houston Chronicle. “He can do multiple things. I think he can and will function very well for us.”

Scarlett has also made an impression on his teammates.

“Brennan, he has improved a whole lot, especially from last year to this year,” Texans’ linebacker Whitney Mercilus said. “He’s embraced his role. His pass rush has been on point. His pass coverage has been on point. I’m excited to see exactly what he does this year.”

Scarlett collected 18 tackles, one forced fumble, and one interception last season for the Texans.
