49ers’ Nick Bosa to Miss Preaseason

The San Francisco 49ers will be without number 2 overall pick and defensive end Nick Bosa for the preseason due to an ankle sprain, according to general manager John Lynch (h/t ESPN’s Nick Wagoner).

Lynch called the injury a “significant” sprain, adding that Bosa’s injury has “elements” of a high ankle sprain.

“We won’t see in the preseason and we’ll go from there. … We’ll get him right and he’ll be a great player for a long time in this league,” Lynch said, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Ravens Signing Paul Worrilow

The Baltimore Ravens are signing veteran linebacker Paul Worrilow pending a physical, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley.

Worrilow, 29, is expected to provide depth for the Ravens linebacker corps, and was recently cut by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Worrilow missed the 2018 season due to injury, and health concerns led to his recent cut from the Eagles.

Chargers’ Placing Derwin James On IR

The Los Angeles Chargers will place safety Derwin James on IR prior to Week 1 of the regular season, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

James underwent foot surgery on Thursday and there is currently not a timeline for his return to the field.

James suffered a stress fracture and is expected to need about 3 months worth of recovery time.

With the move to the injure reserve list, James is now eligible to return in Week 9, but may need more time than that.

The Patriots have been tied to Williams since rumors started swirling that the Redskins were looking to trade the disgruntled Williams, who is currently staging a hold out.

There were rumors that the Pats were willing to trade a first rounder for Williams, but the Redskins turned it down.
