New York Giants’ rookie linebacker Ryan Connelly has suffered a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season, according to an official team announcement.
Connelly left during the fourth quarter of the Giants win over the Washington Redskins on Sunday, and Connelly seemed to know that it was a serious injury.
“It does not feel good,” Connelly said after the game. “I’m hoping it’s nothing is what I can say.”
Connelly, a fifth round draft pick, was impressing many with his play after taking over the starting job amid injuries to Alec Olgletree and Tae Davis.

Giants’ Eli Manning Won’t Waive No-Trade Clause
New York Giants veteran quarterback Eli Manning may have just been benched in favor of rookie Daniel Jones, but he won’t be on the move anytime soon.
According to SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, Manning has no immediate plans to waive his no-trade clause to help facilitate a deal.
While Manning may have opportunities to start with quarterback needy teams such as the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, or Pittsburgh Steelers, he has made a home and also has a massive contract that both provide major hurdles to any deal.
For now, Manning will sit the bench as the Giants introduce a new era of Giants football, with Jones behind center.
Giants Re-Sign T.J. Jones
The New York Giants have brought back wide receiver T.J. Jones, who was recently released from the team.
In a corresponding move, the Giants places outside linebacker Kareem Martin on injured reserve.
The Giants have a need at wideout due to the uncertain status of Sterling Shepard ahead of Week 2 action.
Giants Trade B.J. Goodson
Goodson, a one-time starter at middle linebacker, collected 61 tackles, a 1/2 sack, and two interceptions last year for the Giants.
In a corresponding move, the Giants added linebacker David Mayo, who will take Goodson’s place on the roster.
