It appears that the Detroit Lions are willing to move veteran cornerback Darius Slay, as long as a team meets their high asking price.
According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, one team is “working hard” on a deal for Slay: the Philadelphia Eagles, however the report indicates that the asking price for Slay is “very, very high”.
Slay has one more year left on his contract and held out of the team’s offseason program in hopes of landing a new contract extension, one that did not come to fruition.
Slay, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, is having a down year, per Pro Football Focus metrics.
Lions Cut C.J. Anderson
The Detroit Lions have released veteran running back C.J. Anderson, who was one of their free agent hauls this past offseason.
Anderson signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Lions during free agency, rushed for 43 yards over his only 2 games with the team.
In a corresponding move, the Lions have claimed running back Paul Perkins off of waivers from the New York Giants.
Lions Re-Sign Logan Thomas
The Detroit Lions have re-signed veteran tight end Logan Thomas.
In a corresponding move, the Lions placed defensive end Austin Bryant on the injured reserve.
Thomas, 28, was cut on Saturday as the Lions trimmed their roster down to 53 players, but is now back with the club.
Lions’ Darius Slay Reporting to Camp
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, Slay will report to camp as he continues to push for a new contract with the team.
Slay is coming off his second consecutive Pro Bowl season and has spent his entire career with the Lions.
